In This Issue |
Whether you're approaching the depths of mid-winter in the southern hemisphere or enjoying a breezy summer in the north, may this issue of Starlink Extra brighten your day.
For example, you'll find a huge range of books to read online at Book Glutton and you can brush up on urban slang with the Urban Dictionary.
Or you can read about some thought-provoking research indicating optimism may reduce your risk of dying by 14%! Perhaps another good reason to focus on the doughnut instead of the hole. :)
Our thanks go to to Maggie Verster, Stephanie West Allan, Viv McWaters and Nancy White for some of the resources in this issue.
Cheers
Sue & Chris

Looking for the Good Stuff |
Looking for The Good Stuff is a wonderful library addition for anyone interested in Appreciative Inquiry - or simply in changing life for the better.
Produced by Bob New and Kathleen Rich-New, it will help you to find out what works and figure out how to do more of it.
In a series of engaging anecdotes and memorable quotes, they demonstrate how the principles and assumptions of Appreciative Inquiry can change your life.

More Good Stuff ....
|
We also 'looked for the good stuff' on TED and found some gems to inspire and lift your spirits.
Speaking at a London girls' school in April this year, Michelle Obama offers a passionate plea for education as a means of closing the gap between the world as it is and the world as it should be.
Stuart Brown tells us Why play is important, no matter what your age - it's not only fun, but is deeply involved with human development and intelligence.
Dan Gilbert, author of Stumbling on Happiness asks "Why are We Happy"
And finally ... Pangea Day! This was held on May 10 2008. In 2006, filmmaker Jehane Noujaim won the TED Prize, an annual award granted at the TED Conference. She was granted $100,000, and more important, a wish to change the world.
Her wish was to create a day in which the world came together through film. Pangea Day grew out of that wish.
Watch her entertaining acceptance speech and the wonderful collection of films on the Pangea Day website and be inspired!
