Description

What Works?  is a set of 28 cards that draw on Appreciative Inquiry and other strength-focused approaches to provide a wonderful resource for identifying, enhancing and celebrating the strengths of an organisation.

More Information

Each of the 28 cards in What Works? features a key strength and four statements that can be used as a rich starting point to stimulate discussion and enhance development.

Each card also has a simple visual scale that can be used to deepen conversations about where an organisation is at the moment in relation to that particular strength. Because the cards have a durable write-on/wipe-off surface, non permanent markers can be used to highlight where on the scale your organisation currently stands.

From Innovative Resources:

What Works? brings alive the philosophies of Appreciative Inquiry and other strengths-based approaches by stimulating dynamic thinking and conversations about the stuff that really matters in any organisation.

This savvy resource contains 28 cards—each featuring a key strength and four statements that can be used to identify, build and celebrate strengths in your team or organisation.

Managers: use these cards to review the past year and identify future objectives.
Team Leaders: use these cards to build a strengths-based culture with your colleagues.
Business Owners: use these cards to explore ways to improve outcomes and employee job satisfaction.

Each card also features a simple visual scale that can used to add another dimension to any discussion. The cards have a write-on/wipe-off surface so participants can write directly on the scale with a non-permanent marker. The scale can be used to rate an organisation's performance in relation to the card's prompt word. The rating can then be compared with the responses of others or used to assess progress over time.

"What Works? provides everyone with the chance to feel equal in the discussion. With their calm colours and open questions, these cards make it feel possible, even easy, to come together to work through some weak areas of operation, discuss new ways forward with a specific task, or develop a concept into an overall vision." Pam Robinson OAM, Manager, Climate Change and Environment, Darwin City Council.
